Tim Maxwell Family
Tim is a medically retired Marine who served 21 years and suffered a penetrating traumatic brain injury in Iraq in 2004. Tim, with the help of his incredible wife Shannon, have dedicated their lives to helping other injured service member/veterans/families. Tim was instrumental in the creation of the Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment, and he and Shannon started a non-profit called SemperMax Support Fund that seeks to improve the quality of life of those injured during the recent conflicts and provide them with a sense of team. Over the last ten years, Tim and Shannon have been advocating for wounded, ill, and injured service members and veterans and their families in a variety of capacities. They have three children and reside in VA. This is an amazing family who has given so much to this community.
Juwaan has Cerebral Palsy, a group of disorders that impair control of movement due to brain damage. He is nonverbal and confined to a wheelchair, but manages to show more emotion through his eyes than most other people can show through words and movement combined. He has had a very difficult life, but you would never know it based on his demeanor. Juwaan is very positive; he has an infectious smile and a great sense of humor. He never allows his physical limits to become emotional limits. Despite the many challenges he faces, Juwaan is an amazing friend who consistently puts others before himself. He has brought together an entire community with his passion and love, and we are proud to call him a member of our family.
